Huh?? What was that??
The other night I had a hard time sleeping. I tossed & turned and tossed & turned. I got out of bed and turned the fan in my room on low. I got out of bed and turned the fan on medium. I got out of bed and turned the fan on high. I got out of bed and turned the fan on to osculate. I got of of bed and turned the fan to stand still (I need a remote fan). I kicked the covers off . I put the covers back on & kicked them off again. I put a pillow here and I put a pillow there.......uggg! My shoulder is still sore from surgery so I am limited to the positions I can sleep and trying to get comfortable sometimes is almost impossible! At 1:30 in the morning and not getting any shut eye I decided to get up and go outside to my deck. As I stood on the top stair I went through my routine of night time deck visits. Wave my hands to make the motion sensor light come on, look down the driveway to make sure cars are OK (right check), look into the yard to make sure whatever it is I'm suppose to make sure of...I'm not even so sure myself....lol (left check). Well, this night I was very surprised! As I did my left check, up on the roof of my shed hiding under the apple tree two eyes appeared at me. I tried to focus as the motion light started to get bright. There it was...plain and clear! Staring at me as I stared at it. A little startled and caught off guard I backed into the house and slowly shut the door. I tried to wake up my son who was not interested. I tried to wake up the dog who was not interested. I wanted someone to see this with me. I did not want to experience it by myself. I kept peeking out the back door window to see if it was going to leave. Much to my surprise it stayed. I slowly opened the back door and returned to the top stair and stood watching in aww. I stretched my neck to look..it stretched its neck to look back. I have heard of them. Knowing they can be nice and they can be mean I didn't want to take my chances and go down to the deck. I have seen them on the side of the road unfortunately hit by a car but...but never up close and personal like this. It was in my back yard! It was on the roof of my shed!!! I tried to take pictures with my cell phone but they didn't come out. I stood on the top stair pondering if I should go get the camera but I didn't want to leave ......too soon it turned its little bandit eyes away as I watched it slowly creep on the shed roof, down the back fence and over to the neighbors yard...my last glimpse of my early morning visitor was the fluffy striped tail....And he didn't even stay for a cup of coffee!

The past three weeks has been so boring for me...without being able to do much of anything since my surgery....I started feeling sorry for myself. Try to do things that I should not be doing and overdoing it which does nothing but causing myself pain for a few days. I finally had revelation last night.....I should use my time off as a time to recover from surgery and heal ....I should use this time to do the little things around the house that I can without over doing it. There is a lot I can do.

So today I sat in on an ADI conference call. Lots of talk about the upcoming conference, trade marking the ADI logo, finances, accreditation etc. I started taking notes but quickly gave up and found myself outside on the back deck sitting in the sun ...listening....listening to all of them going on...and on...and on....I muted the phone so my conference call partners could not hear that I was outside enjoying the sun and reading the rest of my book "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks...
For so many years I have taught myself to multi-task I still half-hearted listened and answers any questions that were thrown my way without having to ask "what was that?" After an hour or so of listening the call ended! I kinda wished it went longer since the end of the call started a string of task that needed to be done.....e-mails, phone calls, e-mails, phone calls......So much for using my time for me......WHAT WAS I THINKING??!!
